After Maxi's impromptu make-over, Ren hurried out of the girl's dorm and down the stairs. Now, to find Kareem before she could chicken out. Dinner was over, so Ren assumed he had probably headed down to the student hang-out to look for Ren and Max. Taking a deep breath, Ren pushed open the door of the hang out, and hurried inside. She felt incredibly foolish, standing there in ripped jeans and an old t-shirt, yet wearing make-up and Max's hair thingy. C'mon, Nata. Keep focused. Do this for you, and for Kareem. You know you want to, so stop being a baby, and find the boy! Just then, Renata spotted Kareem. She realized her hands were shaking, and not from anger-- from nerves. With one final deep breath, she hurried over towards him. "Hey, Kareem,"she said, trying to keep her nerves out of her voice.

Kareem had been so disappointed after Renata ran out on him the other day. They had hung out since then as friends, but that hadn't satisfied Kareem. He hadn't been as optimistic as he usually was, either. He sighed and propped up his feet on w=one of the floating ottomans. When he heard Ren's voice, a surge of happiness went through him, only to be dashed out by his memory of the astronomy tower incident. He stood up and walked over to where she was, keeping a safe distance between them. "Yes?"

(((*dies* Ho...lee...sh...it!!!! That isa freaking awesome siggy, my firend)))
Renata took a deep breath. "Um," she said. Wow, great way to start, Ren. "So, about the other day...in the Astronomy Tower..." she said slowly, unsure how she was going to phrase this. Best just to say it straight. "I didn't run away like that because of you, I ran away because of me. I didn't know if I could handle...letting myself be happy like that. I didn't think I deserved it-- I didn't think I deserved you. Hell, I still don't think that. But honestly?" She said, and took another shaky breath. Ren had been avoiding his eyes the whole time, but now, she looked straight into them. "I want you. I want to be with you, even though I know I don't deserve someone as wonderful and kind and talented and beautiful as you." She looked nervously into Kareem's eyes. Please, dear god, let him feel the same way.

When Renata started talking about the Astronomy tower, Kareem folded his arms, narrowing his eyes slightly. "Wat about it?" Then she explained why she'd run away. Little by little his expression softened. When she finally got to the part about her wanting him, Kareem was ready to take her in his arms as much as he had been that day. He laughed. "Ah. That makes more sense. I knew I couldn't be that bad of a kisser," He grinned at her. The old Kareem was slowly flooding back to him. The eternal optimism, the sense of humor. He moved closer to her. "Well, since you seem to have been completely honest, I think I'll tell you that I feel exactly the same way about you."

Ren's breath caught in her throat as Kareem told her he felt the same way. A tiny smiled slipped onto her face, in shock and happiness. "Really?" She asked softly. "Holy crap," she muttered, more to herself than to Kareem. Then she looked up at him, and without hesitation, she grabbed his face, and brought it against hers. She kissed him passionately, finally at peace in the fact that she was in love again. Somehow, she knew it was okay, and that Kareem was right for her, the way Jude had been. Her arms went around Kareem's neck, pulling him closet to her. She never wanted to let go.

Kareem was a little afraid when Renata muttered 'Holy Crap', but then she brought her lips to his, and something wonderful happened. It was like fireworks for Kareem. It was the second time Kareem had kissed a girl, and he knew that he loved her. He had been trying to not think that way, because he didn't know that she felt the same way. But now that he did, he could accept his feelings for her. Kareem held her close to him with his hand on the small of her back. He didn't want to let go of her, but he could feel the eyes of the other students on them. There were some teachers who came in at night to check up on them, and sometimes they were really cranky and gave out awful punishments. He didn't want them to have to get separate classes and supper hours. He broke and grabbed her hand, leading her to the corner of the room, noticing that if he met his classmates eyes, they quickly averted them. This would give them a little more privacy. "Why didn't you think you deserved me?" Kareem asked, curious.

Renata didn't want this moment to end. She was safe in Kareem's arms for god-knows how long. It could have been minutes, hours...maybe several days, but she didn't care. She had finally found home after all this time, and it was incredible. It was like every nerve in her body was suddenly hyper-aware. She could feel every single place where Kareem was holding her. She didn't care if teh entire freaking world was watching-- everything wasright. When Kareem broke the kiss, Ren was resistant, but she let him take her arms from around his neck, and bring her to the corner. Now, sheltered from the curious eyes of their classmates, Ren looked up at Kareem, and blushed at his question. She really didn't want to talk about this now, but whatever. Nothing would harsh her buzz now. "I...I've already had my chance at love, real love, and I didn't think I deserved another. Especially not one as...wonderful as you."

Kareem smiled. "Wonderful? You don't know me well enough. I'm not nearly as wonderful as you!" Wait. she had a chance at real love? So she'd been in a relationship before? It didn't bother Kareem at all, but it sparked his curiosity. But he didn't want to ruin the moment, so he ignored the burning questions he had on the tip of his tounge. He stroked her face, smiling. "If anything, I don't deserve you.

"I know you enough to know that you are the best person I've ever met." Ren was serious-- Kareem was so much more than she deserved. She could see the curiosity in his eyes, and was relieved when he didn't ask her what she meant. She couldn't bring up Jude, not now. As Kareem stroked her face, she sighed contentedly. She put her hand over his, and brought his fingers to her lips. "You're right. You deserve someone better than me," she said. "Well, you know, if I've been given someone as wonderful, I'm not gonna knock divine judgment on how worthy I am. I'mj ust gonna enjoy." And with that, she kissed him again.

Kareem returned Renata's kiss with a passion. It was amazing how much love his body now contained for another person. He never wanted to be away from Renata again. It was too bad she was a year behind him. He couldn't bring himself to part the kiss, even though he wanted to find out if they could do something together this weekend.

Ren gently brought her lips away from Kareem's. One, she needed to breathe, and two, she needed to say something to him. Something really important. She kept her arms wrapped around him, and rested her head against his chest. She could hear his heartbeat, strong and steady. "Hey,"she whispered, realizing that she had almost forgotten what she had broken the kiss for. "Do you wanna go to La Push Beach with me this weekend?" Ren was planning on going home and camping on the beach with the guys.

Kareem stroked her hair as she leaned against his chest. La Push? He'd never been there. But a beach in Forks? He couldn't imagine it would be very beach-ish, but anywhere with Renata was fine. He smiled, "I'd love to."

Kareem's hand stroking her hair felt so calming, so good...even if it reminded her of Jude. He had always said that his favorite part of Ren was her hair. He used to play with it, for no good reason. Ren shoved those memories away, trying to lose herself in Kareem's arms again. It wasn't working. Now, thoughts of the crash flooded her mind. With a sort of urgency, she kissed him again, trying to forget everything. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Shaking with sadness, she buried her face in Kareem's chest. Why did those memories have to come up now, of all times? Ren bit her lip, trying to keep emotions at bay.

Kareem was taken aback when she kissed him with such urgency. It didn't feel right like it had moments before. Kareem could immediately tell that something was wrong. He folded his arms around her, trying to comfort her for something he had no idea what it was. He took her face in his hands and tipped it up so she was looking at him again. "What is wrong?" He asked, concerned with what he saw in her face. He could see sadness plain as day on her face, what did he do to make her so sad?

As Kareem lifted her face, Ren tried to hide her emotions, but she knew her expressive eyes gave her away. She wanted to explain to him, she wanted to tell him about Jude and what had happened, but she just couldn't bring herself to. That would mean facing those demons, and she didn't want him to think her damaged goods. So Ren shook her head, and kissed him again, this time more gently. "I'm sorry," she said, resting her head against his chest. She could hear his heartbeat, clear and strong. "I just...I've got..." How could she phrase this, so as not to lie, but not to give anything away? "You're just too perfect. I'm trying to make myself believe you're actually here, and that I'm actually in your arms. I mean, I don't deserve a second chance like this-" Ren stopped suddenly. Crap, she said too much. No more mentions of second chances.
