Teddy apparated, popping into existence just a block away from his favorite bar. It was small, not too smokey and had excellent food. Still holding onto his arm was Sylvia. God, how could one person who he'd known for only about 15 minutes make him feel so good? "Ta-da," he said with a smile, walking her around the corner and gesturing to the small pub. "I present to you the home of the best d**n french fries ever." Teddy smiled.

Linked arm in arm, Sylvia walked with Teddy, feeling as in love as she did a year ago. 'No.' Sylvia thought. 'You will not think about that. You will not let that ruin the outing with Teddy.' She took a deep breath and the cool air calmed her thoughts. She stared in awe at the small bar. "It's so cute!...like you. " Sylvie said the last part quietly, and blushed. Mmmmmmmmmmm...french fries." She laughed.

Teddy went maroon when she called him cute. "Aww, thanks, that's really sweet of you," he mumbled, not really sure what to say. Teddy had never been the most suave around women, especially beautiful ones like Sylvia. The flirting had always been Scribo's area of expertise, Teddy merely getting the girls who either liked the nerdy type or the girls Scribo set him up with. He was finally with a woman who seemed to like him, incredibly. Maybe as much as he liked her...which was a lot. "Yeah, chips are my favorite," he said, referring to the British way of saying French fries. Huh, he really was comfortable with Sylvia- he rarely reverted to British versions of words. "Sorry...French fries, not chips."

Sylvia nodded. It was true. Teddy was really cute. When Teddy said 'chips' instead of 'fries', Sylvie gave him a confused look. Once he explained it, she said, "Oh...it's okay." She smiled. "Should we go in?"

Teddy internally smacked himself. She had no idea about chips...well, most people didn't. He always played up the accent when he was trying to flirt, but never the sayings and such. For some reason, Teddy didn't feel the need to try and impress Sylvia with his adorable accent. "Yeah, lets go in." He held the door open for her and let her walk in. Nodding to Jaymee, the waitress who was a friend of his, and sat down in a small booth. Jaymee came up, grinning like crazy. "Hey, Teddy, who's the lovely young lady?" She asked, setting down a huge basket of fries. "This is Sylvia," he said, blushing at Jaymee's sly grin.

"Thanks." Sylvia said as she walked inside the small place. She breathed deeply...everything smelled so good. It has been a long time since she ever was out. 'Wow.' She thought. 'I hope to God that I don't make a fool of myself.' She waved at the waitress who Teddy nodded to. Nothing really occurred to her. Sylvie followed Teddy to the booth and sat down. Sylvia blushed and turned to the waitress. "The fries smell delicious." Then she stuck out her hand. "Nice to meet you!"

Teddy grinned, then shot Jaymee a dirty look. She was always trying to get him with girls, just like Scribo, and now she was gloating that he was on a date...even though it wasn't one she set up. "Nice to meetcha too," she said, tossing her purple-streaked blonde hair out of her face. "Well, other than the fries, what can I getcha?" Teddy looked across at Sylvia. "Well, I'll have a Guinness, Jay. What about you, Sylvia?" He asked.

Sylvia smiled. She wasn't paying much attention to the purple-blonde, just to Teddy. His eyes were so beautiful. "Hmmm? What?" she asked. Then remembering the question being asked, she kind of stuttered, "Oh w-water please." She blushed. 'Well, there's goes my hoping not to be a fool.' Sylvia thought to herself.

Jaymee shrugged, and grinned. "Rightie-o, one Guinness for the British boy, and a water for his lovely date." Teddy went scarlet. "Jaymee," he said, groaning slightly, "Would you mind embarrassing other patrons and leaving me in peace?" he asked. Jaymee rolled her eyes. "Whatever, lover boy. You kids have fun, now," she said, and sauntered off towards the bar. Teddy turned back to Sylvia. "Sorry about Jaymee," he apologized, still blushing. "She's...she's like an older sister to me. And with that comes a certain amount of teasing," he said. "Just ignore her."

Sylvia giggled. Her face that was already red, turned even redder. Sylvie nodded in agreement when Teddy asked Jaymee to stop the embarrassment. When Jaymee left, Sylvie sighed. "It's okay Teddy...it's just something to get used to. I never had a sister, so I wouldn't know." She thought for a moment. "You know she's right though."

Teddy nodded. "Yeah, me neither on the sister thing. Or any siblings for that matter. My parent's passed away when I was just a wee little one- I was barely a year old, so I don't remember."He felt a small tinge of sadness the way he always did when he thought of the parents he never got to meet. From what his grandparents and Harry had told him, they were wonderful people. But, he wasn't too upset about it. they died before he really knew them, so it made it easier. Slightly. "The closest thing I have to siblings are my godfather's kids, and they're all at least 6 years younger than me." He smiled. Lily, Al and James were the best. When Sylvia said Jaymee was right, his brow furrowed. "Right about what?"

Sylvia gasped, and stared wide-eyed at Teddy. His parents were gone too? "Oh Teddy...I'm so sorry. That's awful." she said softly. Sylvie remembered her parents burning at the stake and shuddred. Then she remembered someone else. Andrew. Her lip trembled, and she couldn't tell if tears were pooling in her eyes or not. She wiped at her eyes anyway, just to be safe. Sylvia smiled when Teddy talked about his godfather's kids. Then answering his question she said, "Well...we are kind of on a date."

Teddy shrugged. "I can't remember them a bit, but from what I've been told, they were the best of people. I'm just sad I never got the chance to meet them. Apparently, I'm exactly like my dad. Except for the klutziness. That I get from Mum." He smiled. All the great stories Harry had told him about his parents saving the wizarding world. They had gotten him through a lot. Then he saw the tears pooling in Sylvia's eyes. "Are you okay?" He asked nervously. Without thinking, he reached across the table and took her hand. "Yeah, I guess we are." Teddy realized he was still holding her hand. Blushing, he let go.

Sylvia smiled. "I'm guessing your dad was very brillant then. And I don't think your that clumsy." She wiped at her eyes again before took her hand. Then she took a deep breath and said, "I'm not trying to be evil sounding here, but you're lucky you don't remember your parents. I do, and it's not fun. It was nothing they did...no not at all. My parents were amazing. It was those Muggles. One of them saw my mother and father doing spells with me when I was seven or eight. That Muggle went into town and blurted out the fact that we were a magical family. They came and punched down the door. They had stakes in which they tied them to, and they dragged me along too. Now these Muggles were Barbaric...they still enjoyed burning people at the stake. I tried to run away as my parents were being encircled with firewood, but they stopped me and forced me to watch." At that, Sylvie's voice began to tremble. She could picture everything in her mind. "I remember the look on my parent's faces when they caught fire. They screamed out in agony and terror. Their skin was gone within a few seconds. I stood there with a feeling of fear, anger, and depression." By now, she was bawling, and she took another deep breath from going all the way into hysterics. "Once the fire was out, and there was nothing but ash left were my parents were once there, my Aunt Jenny and Uncle Chris took me home with them." Sylvia breathed again to calm herself. "And then there was And- oh wait...never mind." Sylvie couldn't tell Teddy about Andrew...at least not right now. She nodded, and wrung her hands when Teddy let go.

Before he even knew what he was doing, Teddy had come over next to Sylvia, and pulled her into his arms. He held her tightly as she cried, trying to let her know he was here for her, he would protect her and care for her. Though he externally seemed calm, inside he was a torrent of emotions-- anger and hate, at the people who would do such terrible things to innocent people, just because they were different; pity and sympathy for Sylvia and what she had gone through...he couldn't make sense of it all. So he just held on to Sylvia. "Shh, love, it's okay," he whispered, gently rocking her. "I've got you, I promise nothings going to hurt you. No while I'm around."
(I couldn't resist...*total Sweeney fangirl*)
