Jasper noticed the scrutiny of his scars. He had a lot more than any other vampire should. He saw her put her hand over her own, and was wondering why he didn't sense any distrust come from her. That was usually instinctive of vampires. Most of the instinctive distrust came from knowing so many vampires had tried to kill him. But he sensed none of this emotion from Sunny. It was strange. Even a vampire who hadn't been around other vampires should feel that. He tried to ignore this a little, but it stayed in the back of his mind. "Fairly close to here, " Jasper replied to her question.

Sun nodded. "Cool," She said. Sun noticed how he looked at her, and immediately lowered her eyes. "Sorry" she muttered. "I didn't mean to stare, it's just...well, I don't really know much about vampires, despite being one, and...um, well, how did you get so many scars, if you don't mind me asking?" Sunny said quickly. There were so many things in this new world that confused her. spending almost 40 years with the same person, only leaving at night hadn't really been good for her education. And that one person was annoyed by her constant questioning. Which was why Sunny and Lucas had gone their separate ways.

Jasper smiled grimly, "It's ok, I just expected you to be ready to attack me. It's an instinct most vampires have." He thought for a moment, "Before I was with the Cullens, I lived with a vampire named Maria. She was the one who changed me. I helped her create and train an army of vampires to claim territory in Montgomery, " He then explained, "This was around the Civil War period. Training the vampires was.....dangerous." He stopped talking. It wasn't that it was difficult for him to talk about his past, he just figured that was all the explanation that was needed.
