Teddy finished preparing all the teacups that had to be transfigured into toads for today's lesson, and smiled. It was his first class of the day, and he had fifth year students. They were his favorites. There was something about a few of his fifth years that reminded him of himself and Scribo at that age. Max (or was it Minnie? He had such trouble telling them apart) and Renata especially seemed like pranksters. He plopped down behind his desk, and waited for his students to arrive.

Max bobbed her head in time with the music she was listening to. She hated earbuds, so she had slightly bigger headphones with stickers all over them. Without thinking about it, she started humming along with "Revolution" by the Beatles. She slid into her seat, right next to Ren, and started doing air drums with Ringo. She wasn't thinking about the class much, mostly the music. So, of course, she wouldn't have noticed if someone said anything to her, mostly because she couldn't hear anything over the roar of the music in her ears.

Lyra glumly walked into the classroom. She gave a small wave to the few people that were already there and headed to the back. Lyra slumped into a chair and stared off into space.

Miyoko saw Max sit down next to her with her headphones on. She figured that Professor Lupin would notice pretty soon, so she nudged Max in the ribs. When that didn't work, she just grinned and decided to let her get herself in trouble. She leaned back in her chair and stared at the ceiling, waiting for class to start.

Teddy smiled at the few students who were trickling in. This was the first class of the day, and everyone was notoriously late. Teddy had learned that for this class, final bell was just about when people started to arrive, so he always gave them a few extra minutes. Noticing Max (it was Max, she had the redder hair) playing air drums, he strolled casually over to her desk, grinning. Sure, Teddy was a rather laid-back teacher, but he couldn't help but bust Max on this. He stood next to her desk, where she sat with Renata and Miyoko, and glanced at her iPod screen. Revolution. He could have guessed it was the Beatles. While she was rocking out, he leaned over, and casually disconnected her headphones. "As much as I love the Beatles, Miss Function, I'm going to have to ask that you not work on your air-drum skills during my class." With a sly grin, he took her headphones, and started towards his desk. "You can have these back after class. Oh, and by the way...Revolution is one of my favorites, too."

Lyra watched as the professor walked over to Max and took the headphones attached to her head. This made her smile a little amazingly enough. But as soon as it came, the tiny smile faded.
