Jeremy wandered aimlessly throughout Forks. Jorey was gone with a bunch of friends, so he had nothing to do. Come to think of it, he was getting a little hungry, so he started looking around for somebody to snack on. He slowly stalked a pretty girl when he smelled another vampire's sent. Jeremy couldn't tell if that vampire was a carnie or not, but either way he growled, hoping that the other vampire knew he was hunting.

It was a rare day that Jasper was out and about without Alice. He felt like half of him was missing. He sighed. He really had nothing to do in General Forks, he would so much rather be at home with Alice. However, since he'd run into so many carnies lately, he'd been on watch in Forks. He didn't want the carnivores that were already here to attract more. He'd been doing this for almost a week, and hadn't seen anything yet. He was just about to go back home when he caught the scent of another vamp. He stiffened and slowly turned to face the smell. He saw a young man with blond hair. And red eyes. Jasper covertly followed him. He kept a careful distance to make sure that the other vampire didn't know he was there. The boy he was following was following a pretty girl. Nothing compared to Alice, but that didn't really matter right now. He watched as the girl turned a corner, headed for an alley. He knew he'd either have to intervene, or the girl would soon be food for the blond kid. He came up behind the other vamp. He sent waves of fear and respect toward the kind so he would listen to him. "When did you get to Forks, and why did you come here?" Jasper asked. If he came here because of the other carnies suddenly popping up, Jasper knew he had a problem.

Jeremy saw the other vampire but didn't think much about it. He continued to follow the girl down into an alley. What a nice secluded place to have a little snack. Jeremy was about to pounce when he felt fear and respect. He turned around, and seeing as the other vampire was there, snarled. This made the girl jump and run away quickly. "NO!" Jeremy shouted. He pointed a finger at the other vampire. "You made me lose my lunch!" Then he realized that the other vampire was making Jeremy be afraid and respect him. Jeremy shrunk down to show that he wasn't going to hurt the vampire. Then he said "I got to Forks in 1951, and I'm here because Ainsley, my mother, decided to move without consulting me and my sister." Suddenly, the evilness in his eyes faded away as the memory of the girl was stepping out of his mind. "So why are you here?"

Jasper sighed in relief. He was glad he wouldn't have to kill this poor fellow and others like him. If it had been because of other carnies, a full-scale war might have broken out. He didn't like playing with other's emotions exactly, but it sure made for an effective way of getting information. "I'm here because I live here, and I'm afraid that myself and my family have claimed these hunting grounds, and we don't allow outsiders to hunt here. I'm going to have to ask you to go outside of the city lines to hunt. We have to remain inconspicuous, you understand," Jasper said. He was still making the boy respect him, so he would still listen to him, but he let the feeling of fear dissipate. "What's your name?" Jasper asked.

Jeremy was getting a little testy. He felt as if he was getting yelled at. "Okay fine. I'll stay out of you territory. There's no need yo tell me I've done wrong. Trust me...I know." Jeremy backed up. "I'm Jeremy. You?" he said quietly.

"Jasper, Jasper Hale," Jazz replied. He could sense Jeremy's testiness. He calmed him down a little bit with his ability. Now that he knew the carnivore vampires weren't planning an attack, as far as he knew, he was a little more calm himself. "Sorry that I spoiled your lunch." Jasper tried to contain his disgust at the thought of the human girl being his lunch.

Jeremy nodded when Jasper introduced himself. Suddenly, he was really calm. Weird. Jeremy shook his head and sighed. "It's okay. She wasn't that appetizing either. I was just desperate. Hey...are you a carnivore too?"

When Jeremy asked Jasper if he was a carnivore, he almost laughed out loud. The only thing that stopped his is that he didn't want to attract attention to himself. Instead, he smiled warmly and shook his head. "No, I gave that up long ago, when myself and Alice joined my family." And recently he'd been trying to convert the entire carnie population of Forks to be a veggie. It was tiring work, though there weren't that many of them, they were hard to convince.

Jeremy nodded. "So then, what is it like to life off of just animals?"

Jasper thought about that question for a while. He didn't deny that at first, it was difficult, especially because he lived in one place, with the clan, and was around humans all the time. Edward's girlfriend, Bella, hanging around all the time hadn't helped at the time either. However, he had grown more and more tolerant to the smell of humans. he still couldn't sand the sight of blood without going all crazy-vamp though. "Well, at first it wasn't easy, but it's become better over the years."

Jeremy nodded. "So can you be both vampires? Like chow humans and then the next day chow animals?"
