Thud, thud, thud.
The ground beneath the girl's feet flew by, the purple eyelids closed over her onyx eyes. The pale feet skidded to a stop by a river. She could have jumped across....but then again. She could freeze it over.
And freeze it she did, smirking as she ran across it--the cracks of the ice spread in spider-webbed patterns as her feet contacted with the whitish-clear, rock-like ice.
Sophie enjoyed hunting. But not this way, not animals....most of them ran too quickly when seeing her. Humans, on the other hand, were stuck by her and stood still long enough for her to bite.
The eyes snapped open when a scent hit her nose. Blood. To be precise, the blood of the mountain lion she was going after. A loud growl ripped from her throat. Someone had taken her kill.
This was going to be a problem.

(((i hope it's ok that im posting here even though Im not a vamp))) Scribo had been taking an innocent enough walk through the forest. True, he had just been at a bar in Seattle with Teddy, but he wasn't too drunk. He was stumbling a little, but he could see clearly and think clearly enough to know he was going to have a major hangover in the morning. He stumbled and fell into a large bush. Cursing, he got up and looked around. Without panicking, he noticed that he was much farther out than he was planning. How could he have possibly walked this much without noticing it? He shook his head. He was at least a couple miles away from civilization. He thought about apparating, but only for a moment. If he apparated while only even a little drunk, he might leave something behind, or something like that. He sighed, pondering his choices. He could walk back. But now that he knew he was so far away, he would not enjoy the walk back, seeing as it was pretty far away. He walked over to a rock and sat on it. Except it wasn't a rock. It started moving. Scribo gave out a strangled cry and fell to the side of the creature. Shocked, he crawled backwards on his hands. Regaining his composure, he decided to change. One great thing about being an animagous was that, unlike a werewolf, your clothes just seemed to change with you instead of being destroyed. Within moments, there was no Scribo, only a large black wolf with a silver streak on his forehead. The creature now began to circle him. Following suit, Scribo circled the mountain lion. It looked determined on attacking him. Without another thought, Scribo pounced. With remorse, he quickly killed the lion. As he changed back into human form, he sighed, "Oh well, couldn't be helped. Then he heard a growl from a short distance away. He groaned. Another mountain lion? He was too drunk for this!

Sophia's feet took off like rockets, racing over rocks and occasionally knocking down trees until she reached the site of the mountain lion she was set on killing when she saw a human. She ground her teeth together. The scent of him set her throat aflame with thirst. Her onyx eyes flashed bright crimson in the dark light of the forest. She inhaled again, feeling her throat burn again. He certainly did not smell like those dogs from La Push. "Couldn't be helped!?" she hissed, her voice as vicious as she felt. It took all her control not to knock him down that moment. With another inhale, she caught something else, something that she'd smelt around those fools in England. Magic. she spat mentally. "Sir, you've made a mistake. You've taken my kill. You've taken my one source of sustenance. If I were back in Volterra, your..." she trailed off again as a breeze blew his scent into her nose again. It felt like someone had stuck a torch down her throat. She stopped breathing. "What is your name?" Sophie snapped.

Scribo of course wasn't in his best judgment and had never seen a vampire. Of course he'd heard of them, who hadn't? She was a beauty, like the ones he'd heard described to him. He was surprised with the ferocity in her voice. He could tell she was showing amazing self-control, as it looked like she wanted to kill him right there and then. He wasn't sure if magic would work on vampires, but why not? She started talking about 'her kill' and somewhere called 'Volterra'. When she asked for his name, he bowed and said, slurring his words only slightly, "My name is Scribo Laucuna, and you?"

"Scribo Laucuna," she repeated inaudibly to herself. Her stance relaxed slightly, though it still had the air of tenseness to it. She put on a smile for the man, but it turned out more like a smirk. Sophie performed a graceful, dainty curtsy to Scribo. "I am Sophia Bravado." she replied in her ringing soprano. She was still not breathing, the man's scent, when she inhaled it, had acted like a drug to her system. A deadly, horrid drug mixed with a little alcohol--something she could smell when she'd first caught scent of him.

Scribo, though drunk, noticed most of what was going on. He was ready at the slightest movement to change and run away. Though he wasn't sure how much that would help him considering he could only move as fast as a normal wolf and she was a vampire. He covered his ears when she spoke. She had a pretty voice, but to his drunk ears, the pitch was like nails on a chalkboard. "Sophia Bravado, eh? Well, Sophia, I go better think when....."Scribo paused, knowing he wasn't making any sense in this state. He paused, composed himself as much as possible and said, "Sorry for 'taking' your kill, but it's not like I meant to or anything."

Sophie's eyebrows arched over her eyes. Odd, no one had ever reacted like that when she spoke. Probably the alcohol's doing. "Why? Because you are drunk?" she said softly, head tilting, now fully relaxing her stance to a stand. "No, wait. Because you were afraid of the beast." she stated. She didn't need to read minds to spurt out possibilities. She paused again, not a single part of her frame moving, one question bit at her mind. "Do you know what I am?" she asked softly, the sound more frightened than she wanted to sound.

Scribo chuckled a little when she guessed at the possibilities of why he defended himself against the beast. "No, s'more like because I didn't plan on getting mauled by a mountain lion today, and I have responsibilities tomorrow, so it would really put a damper on my students' day if I were dead instead of teaching," Scribo rambled. His expression softened slightly when she asked a question, sounding slightly scared. "I think so," Scribo ran a hand through his hair.

Sophie walked swiftly up to Scribo, almost letting their bodies touch, though she didn't want to reveal anything until he said it. Accidentally, she took a small breath in, her eyes widened, his scent burning her throat. She gulped down any urge to knock down the human. "Are you afraid of me?"

Scribo resisted the urge to move backwards when she walked toward him. "Not especially, but that might be related to the fact that I'm under the influence," He smiled, "Though I'm sure I should be afraid, I just can't bring myself to." He shrugged.

"Would you dare come near me if you were sober?" she asked, resisting a laugh. He was certainly taller than her. But, she had always been short, even when she was human. This human was becoming interesting to her. "Or, if you still would come near me--." she stopped herself, leaping back to her original position in a millisecond. Her hand rested on the branch of a tree, a few moments later, it cracked and groaned as she crunched it in her hand and turned it into petrified wood using ice.

Scribo thought about it. Yes, he probably would still come near her. He had always been too curious for his own good, and never really thought about the danger of anything. Right before he was going to answer her, she leaped back with her hand on a tree. Then it turned into petrified wood. Scribo had missed her movement, she went so fast. His jaw dropped open. "Woah, could you do that again?" Scribo grinned. He'd never seen a vampire, and now he was sure she was one. What she did to the tree also intrigued Scribo, "How did you do that?"

Her eyes darted to the brach. She hadn't meant to do that, usually she exercised more control, especially after working for the Volturi. Sophia's jaw tightened as she watched his reaction. It was not what she expected. She tilted her head and placed her hand on another branch and repeated the action, faster, louder. It was like discovering her abilities all over again. "I...I...don't really know. I've been able to for a while. My old mentor said it was because of something that happened to me before I can remember," Sophie said softly.

Scribo watched as she did it again, still amazed beyond belief. All he could say was, "Wow." When she spoke of why she could do it, it gave Scribo another question, "Um, if you are what I think you are.....how old are you?"
