Kareem nodded when Renata explained about her mum. When her jaw dropped, he cringed, thinking she was going to yell again (she seemed to do that a lot) but smiled when she simply seemed surprised. "Sure. Why not? I tutor Miyoko too. Since I started tutoring her a couple days ago, she's already improved a lot," He smiled encouragingly. "Your welcome," Kareem said, happy that she didn't seem to be angry anymore, "In fact, I'm actually free right now, if you want your first lesson."

Ren smiled as Kareem mentioned Miyoko. "Oh, you know Miyoko, too?" She asked. "She was one of the first friends I made here. And it's no wonder she's improved, that girl is sharp, I tell you. Unlike me, unfortunately," Ren said. Incredibly, Ren was almost completely calm now. "Wait, right now?" She asked, eyebrows arching. Well, she had already skipped class, why not do something productive with her time? "Um, sure, I guess." She picked up her school bag off the ground, and stood up. "Alrighty, teacher, where to?"

Kareem nodded, "Miyoko bumped into me after dinner on her first night here, she was pretty distraught, but now she has a much better grasp on things." When Renata compared herself to Miyoko as not being sharp, Kareem frowned, "I'm sure that's not true, you just need a helping hand." When Renata stood up, so did Kareem, "Well, I usually conduct my lessons in the astronomy tower, so, there I s'pose." He offered her his arm in a very gentlemen like manner, "Shall we?"

"A helping hand would be absolutely awesome," Renata concurred. She didn't say anything about him denying what she had said, though. Ren was thoroughly convinced she wasn't smart. In Muggle school, she had low grades- except for math- but there she hadn't been teased. Back in La Push she had run with the wild boys. Hell, she was one of the wild boys, and no one had dared to mess with her, cause if they did, they'd be messing with her, Tristan, David, Matt, Bobby, Carl and...a final person who's name Ren refused to think. Giggling, Ren took his arm. "We shall," she said, trying to act lady-like. She failed miserably, but then again, she did well for someone who instead of having tea parties went cliff diving.

Kareem laughed and led her to the staircase that led up to the Astronomy tower. All of the students avoided the 2nd step. They all jumped over it to the next step. It had been known to grab your foot as you were walking on it. Kareem had only stepped on the step once when it grabbed his foot. After that, it had never grabbed his foot again. Smiling, he stepped on the step without any hesitation.

Ren's eyebrows shot up when she saw Kareem step on the 2nd step of the astronomy tower without getting grabbed. "Huh," she muttered softly, jumping over the step. It might like Kareem, but Ren knew better than to test her luck with the stairs. "How did you...never mind," she said, hurrying up the stairs after him. "So...what should we start with?" She asked. "I'm pretty bad at just about everything, so any help at all would be great."

Kareem chuckled lightly to himself when he heard Renata jump over the step. When they were in the room at the top, Kareem turned around to face her, "Well, let's start with a basic disarming spell, I need to know how much you know before I can actually help."

Ren's eyebrows jumped. He wanted her to disarm, she would disarm...in a typical Renata manner. "A disarming spell?" She asked as if she was confused. "Oh, you mean like....THIS! Expelliarmus!" She cried, and Kareem's wand flew into her hand. She grinned slyly. That was one thing her father had taught her- just in case she got in any fights at school. "How was that?" She asked, tossing his wand back to him with a smile.

Kareem was holding onto his wand only loosely, and it flew into the air when she cast the spell. He smiled and caught his wand when she threw it back to him. "Good, what about blocking, are you any good at that?" To test her, he flicked his wand faster than he could see and sent her flying back. He bit his lip, "Sorry, probably should have warned you,I was going to do that. Can we try it again, try to block this spell," Kareem uttered a low, simple spell and flicked his wand again.

Ren flew back against the wall, eyes wide. "Whoa," she said, stumbling back to her feet. "Easy there, tiger. I might heal faster, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt," she said jokingly. She straightened up, and prepared herself for his spell. She was only so-so at blocking spells. And sure enough, she totally messed up the blocking spell and wound up back against the wall, bashing her head against the stone. There was a second of darkness because of the knock, and next thing she knew, she was on the floor. Blushing at collapsing, she hurriedly pulled herself to her feet. "Oww, sorry, lemme try that again."

Kareem rushed over, worried, "Oh, I'm sorry, are you ok?" He watched her to make sure she didn't fall back down after she got up. When she suggested trying that again, Kareem shook his head, vehemently opposed to the idea. "No, let's wait for a moment, a short break won't kill you." He smiled, still worried, "How's your head." He pulled two chairs over and sat in one of them, taking out a bottle of water from his bag and offering it to her.

Ren winced slightly as she stood. d**n, she hit her head harder than she thought. "Naw, I'm fine, it's find," she muttered, always denying that she needed help or that she was hurt. It had come from years of being the littlest and the only girl. She had toughened herself up, so that the boys wouldn't feel like she was a burden. Smiling slightly at Kareem, she sunk into the chair, rubbing the back of her head. Already, the pain was fading. "Better. The super-fast werewolf recovery time helps," she said, taking the proffered bottle of water. "Thanks," she said softly, feeling herself blush. Ren found it was nice to have someone worry about her. Especially a guy. God, he reminded her so much of Jude. She realized they were alone in the tower, and pretty close to each other. She blushed again.

Kareem laughed when she commented about her werewolf recovery. "Your welcome," Kareem smiled. He noticed that she blushed, he also noticed that she was extremely pretty when she blushed. He felt the tension in the room, and realized for the the first time that he was up here alone with her. And that he had put the chairs a little closer together than he had meant to. At this close distance, he noticed her a little more than he had before. He grinned nervously. She had beautiful brown eyes. He looked into her eyes for a moment and looked away, embarrassed. Then, on an impulse, he turned back to her, took her face in his hands, and kissed her full on the mouth. Within seconds of contact, he pulled away quickly. "I'm sorry," He mumbled apologetically.

The second his lips touched hers, she froze. But only momentarily. She found herself responding to his touch, her lips moving in synchronization with his. It had been so long since she had been with a guy. Jude was the last (and really only) relationship she had been in, and she had told herself that she shouldn't get her hopes up for finding someone that wonderful and kind and insanely perfect again. And yet, here she was, locking lips with a gorgeous, kind, brilliant, wonderful guy. When he let go, she actually found herself wanting him to keep kissing her. "Um..." she whispered. Her cerebral functions had totally abandoned her for the moment. "For what?" She asked. Why should he be sorry? He had just proven to her that she could love again, that she could find someone just as wonderful.

Kareem blinked a couple of times to make sure he wasn't dreaming. He was sort of expecting her to go ballistic. "Um," He was still embarrassed, "Well...I just- Um...-I didin't-" Kareem couldn't think of anything to say.
